Adrienne Houghton is co-host of Emmy and NAACP Image Award nominated THE REAL, the one hour, daily talk show on fox Television Stations and in national syndication. In may of 2018 Hougton recently launched her YouTube and Facebook series ALL THINGS ADRIENNE and she is also currently co-host the icon series Fox’s SHOWTIME AT THE APOLLO with Steve Harvey.
Along with her fellow THE REAL co-hosts, Houghton won a 2018 Daytime Emmy® Award as Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show Host and a 2018 NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Talk Series. Houghton, who is of Puerto Rican and Ecuadorian descent, is the first Latina daytime talk show host on English language television.
Born in the heart of New York City’s Lower East Side, Houghton, an actress, recording artist, TV personality and style icon with undeniable star power, was a household name by the time she was just 14 years old. She first stepped into the spotlight in 1999, when she rose to fame as the lead singer of multi platinum R&B girl group, 3LW. 3LW’s debut single, “No More (Baby I’ma Do Right),” was a smash hit in 2001. 3LW released a total of three studio albums, in addition to the greatest hits album Neva Get Enuf.
After touring the world with Destiny’s Child and *NSYNC, Houghton then went on to become a founding member of pop group The Cheetah Girls, known to the group’s millions of fans as Chanel. The group’s 2003 Disney Channel movie The Cheetah Girls, drew in 84 million viewers worldwide and instantly established the girls as superstars. Their 2006 tour was among the top-10 most successful tours of that year. After making multiple lucrative merchandising deals, the group went on to make two more Disney Channel movies, including Cheetah Girls: One World. In 2009, Houghton served as the face of the MTV network and hosted the afternoon block of their programming, in addition to hosting specials and celebrity interviews.
As an actress, Houghton’s credits include roles in several television hits, including Disney Channel’s, That’s So Raven and Buffalo Dreams; the 2006 MTV feature All You’ve Got; the feature film Coach Carter, starring Samuel L. Jackson; and ABC Family movie Love struck, starring Jane Seymour. Houghton also starred in the motion picture I’m in Love with a Church Girl, co-starring Ja Rule and Stephen Baldwin, which made a #1 debut at the box office amongst independent films in October 2013.
In addition to hosting the red carpet at the 2013 BET Awards, Houghton was frequently featured as a BET co-host on the popular countdown show 106 and Park, as well as on VH1’s Morning Buzz. In 2012, fans got a chance to see a different side of Houghton, with the debut of her Style Network show, Empire Girls, with model and television personality Julissa Bermudez.
In addition to THE REAL, Houghton also hosted the Oxygen network series Nail’d It!, a reality show that focuses on nail-art competition. Houghton launched her own “Fingertip Fetish” nail polish line as well, adding “entrepreneur” to her resume.
Grateful for her success at a young age, Houghton has always focused on giving back and being a positive role model. She continues to be an advocate for girls, and an active volunteer for a number of major causes and charities, including the Girls Scouts of America, the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Make-A-Wish, Arthur Ashe Kids’ Day and City of Hope.
Houghton married musician Israel Houghton in Paris in 2016, in a romantic wedding broadcast on THE REAL and attended by her co-hosts. Viewers were involved in every step of the nuptial planning from the dress fitting to the cake tasting.
Houghton currently resides in Los Angeles with her husband.
